The intriguing subtitle is “Laurel Canyon, Covert Ops & The Dark Heart of the Hippie Dream”, eluding to a time of change in the youth and music culture that may not have been so “organic” and may have been engineered.

Laurel Canyon in the 1960s and early 1970s was a magical place where a dizzying array of musical artists congregated to create much of the music that provided the soundtrack to those turbulent times. Members of bands like the Byrds, the Doors, Buffalo Springfield, the Monkees, the Beach Boys, the Turtles, the Eagles, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, Steppenwolf, CSN, Three Dog Night and Love, along with other singer/songwriters as Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, James Taylor and Carole King, lived together and jammed together in the bucolic community nestled in the Hollywood Hills.

But there was a dark side to that scene as well.

Many didn't make it out alive, and many deaths remain shrouded in mystery to this day. Far more integrated into the scene than most would like to admit was a guy by the name of Charles Manson, along with his murderous entourage. Also floating about the periphery were various political operatives, up-and-coming politicians and intelligence personnel—the same sort of people who gave birth to many of the rock stars populating the canyon. And all the canyon's colorful characters—rock stars, hippies, murderers and politicos—happily coexisted alongside a covert military installation.

Weird Scenes Inside the Canyon is the very strange, but nevertheless true story of the dark underbelly of a CIA, MKUlTRA, Mind Control phony hippie utopia.

While we, the people of New York were celebrating the holidays with family and friends, the New York State Assembly members in Albany quietly rammed through a bill that not only gives themselves an unbelievable 30% pay raise, but it also ensures that they will all be career politicians, living off the backs of struggling tax payers!

Their salaries are now going to be $142,000 per year, plus benefits, plus per diems! And since they are now forbidden from holding meaningful jobs outside their part-time legislator job, they will be beholden to special interest lobbies and their party - not to we, the people.

It is the dawn of a new age here in New York. Sadly, it is a new, dark age, where the Empire State, formerly governed by We the People who were represented in our State legislature by our fellow citizens, has now become an Empire ruled by an elitist class of self-appointed, career politicians who have proven themselves to be not just money-hungry but power-hungry to boot.

On Monday December 19, 2022, the party that has a super-majority in both the NYS Senate and Assembly (ie. the Democrats), put forth a bill that would raise their PART-TIME salaries by an incredible 30%, from $110,000 per year to a whopping $142,000 per year. That is a $32,000 pay raise in one fell swoop.

Mind you, the Democrats also gave themselves a pay raise just 4 years ago, in 2018, when they increased their salaries from $79,500/year up to $110,000/year (again, about a 30% pay raise). We, the people should ask ourselves the question that if our supposed representatives, our servants want pay raise shouldn’t they ask for our permission?
